Ran 5.1 miles (estimated) in 1:06:57. It was cloudy and cool (about 57) and I felt pretty good. Sort of getting bored with this loop so I may run on the River trail or LaFortune later this week just to break things up.

Ran 5.1 miles (estimated) this morning in 1:12. Felt okay, but got tired. Want to try and step up my daily mileage a bit. Need to transition into one speed day and one long day, and the rest of the week at an easy pace. Will begin this in two weeks. For now, just building up the base and trying not to get hurt by pushing it too soon.

Didn't go to church. Sorry God. Did take out one of His creations. Cut down a tree and cut it up for firewood. Took most of the day. Didn't run, but this was the best workout I've had in months.

Tonight my wife and I went to Cains Ball Room. The Rotary Club of Claremore had a tribute to Vince Gill. A nice deal with a lot of folks. Couldn't find our camera, or I would have taken some shots. Great food, my boss and his wife, and the folks from Southerlands at our table. They had a live auction, music, and various speakers telling old Vince stories. I'll post some pictures the house photographer took, they said they would be posted on a web site by Wednesday.

The one story I found most amusing was about Vince when he was 17 in a bluegrass band. Seems a big act was playing at the Myriad, in OKC back in the mid 70s. At the last minute they lost their opening act, and in desperation they ask Vince's little bluegrass band to play. All was well and good, until they found out the band they were opening for was KISS. The crowd was not happy. The MC said they played a few songs to an angry crowd. Finally, they ended their set early, and Vince walked to the front of the state and mooned the rowdy crowd.

Ran 4.7 miles in 55:18. Felt really good. May take a rest day Sunday. Worked in the yard all morning raking , bagging leaves, and sneezing. I've got to go to the TU game tonight. The weather team is to walk out on the field and give the forecasts. It's not until 6:30pm so I should be able to get a lot of the yard done. By then I will need a break.

Another viewer picture. This one taken at sunrise in Okmulgee by one of the best photographers in the state. His name is Paul Orosco. He has an amazing eye.

Ran/walked 4.7 miles in 53:17. It was a bit warmer this morning and the winds were up but I felt pretty good. Still feel more like a walker who runs than a runner, but as long as there is progress.

On of my favorite contributors with pictures sent in almost daily is Richard Waters. He sent this photo of Natural Falls. Never heard of it? Well it is in S.E. Delaware county, near West Siloam Springs, Oklahoma. Yes, it is in Oklahoma just west of the Arkansas border.
Once called Dripping Springs, it's been renamed and I'd like to drive over there someday and check it out.

Richard said the 77 foot waterfall was the backdrop for the 1974 movie "Where the Red Fern Grows." I haven't seen that movie in 20 years, but would like to rent it. I found this
clip on YouTube.

Walked/Ran 4.7 miles in 55:11. Still very slow, but I had a good time. It was a little on the cool side this morning. Tulsa fell to 41. Nowata dipped to 34 and Pryor was 35.

My bosses boss is doing Ironman Florida in October of 2010. He was in town earlier this week. He knows I did Ironman Arizona a few years ago, and has asked me about that in the past. This time, he asked me if I was going to do it. I told him probably not, but for fun I was looking at the I.M. Florida web site. Entry fee is $550. Is that not way out of line? Never mind the airfare, hotel, time off....oh yea, training for solid year. Gonna have to pass on that........I think.

Next marathon: OKC Memorial Marathon on April 22, 2010.

Viewer sent in this picture from Woolaroc. It's a very cool place and if you've not been there I highly recommend it.

Walked/Ran 4.7 miles in 58:38. Oh what a beautiful morning.... Felt good and tried not to focus on the slow pace, just getting back into it, and don't want to push it.

A viewer sent us a picture of the Autumn color in Osage county. Not sure if it was Photoshopped or not, but what a sight!

Meeting a former co-worker for lunch. Hoping he has found a job.
